I am not sure how you link A to B here. There is a climate crisis, measurable in lots of ways from melting ice caps to extremely volatile weather. It will require all the major industrial nations to change their habits radically. So, I agree that currently the US is largely stuck and too many Americans are looking backwards rather than trying to create a different future. But the resources of America, not least its people, can be incredibly creative. We might discover that a world where people are less cut off from each other by living and working a car commute away in the suburbs or largely socialising only with like minds on social media, is both greener and friendlier. And with a greater sense of unity rather than division.
